About Cozy Cottons Quilting

I’m Angela, the founder of Cozy Cottons Quilting. Our store opened in March 2022 and is a new step in a journey of creatively encouraging others.

I was born, raised and continue to reside in the community of Chilliwack BC. I have always had an interest in creating; taking up sewing in my teen years, often opting to spend my weekend evenings staying home working on one project or another. I was nicknamed Susie homemaker by my friends.

My interest in quilting began later though, after the birth of my twins. They were born early, at 25 weeks along, weighing 1 pound 6 ounces and had to spend 4 months in the neonatal intensive care unit. Each baby that spent time on this unit was in an incubator adorned with a quilt.

I came to appreciate the uniqueness of each quilt as this was the easiest way to spot which incubators my little ones were occupying. When my babies were about 2 years old I took my first quilting class at a local quilt store and have been obsessed ever since. To this day those quilts hold a special place in my heart, as they represent so many memories of those first days with my children.

For almost two decades I busied myself with the tasks of raising my children, working alongside my husband, who owns and operates a long-standing local machine shop and honing my skills and knowledge of quilting with the dream of opening a store.

It is important to me to make modern and traditional fabric and quilting skills accessible to all. I want everyone to feel comfortable and inspired in our shop and studio because creating is important. It lifts us up, it heals us, it brings us joy, and it is a way for us to share love and friendship with others.
